Airi Suzuki



Airi Suzuki in 2019.


Born in Tokyo, Japan, Airi Suzuki has distinguished herself at many international competitions. At the age of 17 she won 2nd Prize at the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznan, Poland. Proceeding that, she was awarded 5th prize at the International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition Hannover in 2012 and in 2015, 2nd prize at the Valsesia Musica International Violin Competition with no 1st prize awarded. 

In 2004 she made her debut as a soloist in Suntory Hall with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Naoto Otomo. In 2013 she was privileged to perform a recital in the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Furthermore, She frequently plays as a soloist with many Japanese and European Orchestras such as the NDR Radio-Philharmonic Hannover, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Posen Philharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Hiroshima Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. 

She graduated from Toho High School of Music in 2008 and then started her Bachelor's studies at Toho Gakuen College with Koichiro Harada. In 2012 she commenced her Masters studies, and later Solo Class studies, in Germany at The Hochschule fur Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Prof. Krzysztof Wegrzyn. She currently plays a G.B Guadagnini ex.Kneizel violin from 1752 which was given to her on loan by the Munetsugu Collection
